I spent a lot of time on that. As I recall, the only thing I never got to work properly was 3D painting, where you paint directly onto a 3D model.

When learning about character rigging in Blender, I couldn't figure out how to set joint rotation constraints, but maybe that's not a Blender feature.

Put this render together in 2 hours using Godot 3.4.4. The rock is a scan (like most of my work) and the sky is just an HDRi, but everything else was done entirely on the Steam Deck. Not the ideal setup, but it works.

I learned blender character rigging not long ago so maybe this would help regarding the set joint rotation constraint.

-Make sure you are in pose mode -Select your bone and go to Bone Constraint Properties -you can add either Constraint:

Limit Rotation Constraint https://docs.blender.org/manual/en/latest/animation/constraints/transform/limit_rotation.html

Transformation Constraint (I personally go with this one) -Select "Map From/Map To" then "Rotation" then play around with the angles

Also with character rigging it is usually set the "Target/Owner" space to "Local Space" for rotation constraint

No, not the most efficient setup but not drastically worse than a laptop. I don't like traveling with multiple devices so this could be a one stop shop.

The screen looks small in the photo but it's pretty crisp for 800p and usable. There are some limits with installing custom packages but anything from the Flatpak store should work.

Otherwise it is a full Linux computer and more powerful than anything else you can buy that is less than $1,200. So it's a great deal in terms of money and you can play and develop high end games.

In all seriousness, how do I slow down the plague of dead pixels? It's getting bigger everyday. It's hard to see if somethings rendering right when I can only see 80% of the mesh.

Steam Deck is pretty powerful. It can run Cyberpunk 2077 at 30 fps, and most slightly older games at 60 fps with high settings. Mirror's Edge Catalyst looks amazing on it. 60 fps at max settings, and that was a AAA game from 2016. My laptop can't do that (older AMD APU) and that cost $700 dollars. It also has the gamepad, touchpad, lots of buttons. Not like carrying a laptop and an Xbox controller. Web browsing is okay, just Twitter, Facebook, etc. It's just that the virtual keyboard is not that good. Okay for typing in passwords and stuff, but not for programming. If they can improve the keyboard with a software update, it may be nice to use only the Deck and not need any other device.

I already have one, the issue is I like the laptop working on my lap.

I read somewhere that Godot runs on Android devices now. It seems a bit far-fetched, but is it possible?

The current version doesn't have a lot of mobile specific changes, so it's only really usable on a tablet with keyboard and mouse ...

A recent comment at the github link says there's a plugin that removes the need for the keyboard and mouse.

I don't plan on using it. I suppose it could be useful if you need to make minor changes and you're away from your computer.

I wonder why they require a mouse and keyboard? It seems odd for an android device.

Especially if all you want to use it for is a few quick bug fixes on the fly.

There are apps that emulate mouse keyboard on Android but it's really hard to use that for coding.
