All video gamemaking is, in reality, is simply a form of animation that you interact with. From tic tac toe to Skryrim. Its just animation based on timing and choices. This is why you can completely create all your animation in a game engine. Eve if just moving the camera in a render is still an animation. If you can render Ella and Decay you can create some nice animations.
