Every time the conversation of setups come up, it hurts. My setup for the past many months has been a single Dell Latitude E5530, formerly with a mouse, and a drawing tablet I found for $20. There are many, many hardware problems. The worst of which regarding game development is the where when the up and left arrow key are pressed as well as any other key, in Godot specifically, the keyboard locks up and only the left key is detected. I've tested it on another computer and it's not a bug in game as far as I can tell. Another cool one unrelated to this laptop, but to a previous one is none of my USB drives work right. They all got zapped when I used them to fix a motherboard that was also zapped. This means no back up files. Fortunately, meditation on mortal transience has helped in accepting the transience of other things as well.
The second worst is both hinges are busted. One is totally severed and the other is clinging on a too well. It wants to push the display through the bezel when I move the lid. It doesn't have the courtesy to be a normal hinge, I think it's rusted because I have to strain pretty hard to grab it by the hinge directly, a technique that drastically lowers the chance of catapulting the display. In order to keep this thing working as long as possible, I've resolved to turning it into a desktop. I don't have a desk since I don't have a room, so it's on the floor, sometimes a coffee table if I'm brave enough to lean over and squish my gut for a few hours. Not bad until my back hurts and my intestines get blocked.
Thanks for listening to me bitch and moan for two paragraphs. I'm getting sick of this and if you're like me, you will laugh at my misfortune. I hope you do because I would.
