Godot 4.0 is supposed to have better networking, but it's in alpha stage. I expect it will be at least a year before a stable release, but who knows. If you are okay with working with alpha/beta software, and dealing with bugs/crashes, in exchange for a better engine (more features, better graphics, etc.) then you can make that trade-off. It depends how long your game will take as well. If you think it will take 2 years to finish, then Godot 4.0 will be out by then, so it may make sense to invest early. But if you are working on a game that will take 6 months, it may be better to stick with Godot 3.x.
