Those models are pretty nice. Maybe not AAA quality, but good enough for an indie game. There are many projects with people looking for artists without immediate pay. Usually they will do a revenue share (you get some percentage of the profit, if the game is a success). Or they can also do crowd-funding, where you make the art for a demo for free, and then if the Kickstarter or Indiegogo campaign makes money, they will pay you to complete the work. It is kind of risky to do this, as many projects fail to complete, or never make any money, but it's an easy way to get some experience and build a portfolio.
