Let's write a short story together

Let's write a short story together. Everyone, will give only one sentence each. You are allowed to use up to two commas. Do not use conjunctions in exploitative way like using "and" a lot. And, if you use a semicolon, the next person has to extend it, you can't, to make it more chaotic. It will end after we reach a good amount of sentences. And you are only allowed to contribute after every 5 sentences written. You can write "..." or "," at the end of a sentence to have someone extend it. You can use both fictional or non fictional place/character names. Use only English. The story will have no genre, to allow for more freedom in writing this. I will start now:

At the south in the Island of David,

lived a broken man

in a lighthouse keeping the ships from running aground

he was already old and tired working all life

I suggest that you, as the OP, should be able to contribute more frequently to keep the story moving. :)

I make it every 3 sentences for me but you have to do it every 5 sentences.

As someone who've tried to write short stories in the past( though I've never finished most), I find the rules for this to be incredibly limiting. Also, as someone said, there really isn't a lot of people on this forum. What if you turned this into some sort of "game" or something? You could be the main character of the story and the rest of us could tag along as our own characters. Of course, "our characters" can't really represent who we are in real life as that might be more or lead to a Mary Sue situation. Still, the purpose of having our own characters could be a means of giving us an opportunity to contribute to the story in our own way. We might not be able to write the deaths of our own characters or other players. However, other players could make up characters separate from their own characters that are able to write deaths for. We can also limit each player to word count of a thousands word a day. You can be the final authority on which post is cannon and which is not. If you don't want to do that, thumb ups could determine which one is canon. What do you say?

That feels more like a novel, than something short. I could have the current one be more shorter and have people contribute paragraphs of up to 100 words. So 10 paragraphs with 100 each. And for adding chaoticness, you could add have the other person extend it. It is getting late now, and I have to sleep. See you tomorrow.
