allow me to explain with some words, and a video: https://youtu.be/ebZTKNLhcq8
Essentially it uses DC (dice checks), even in actions like fighting. So it's less souls like in that regards. Closer to rogue in some ways, in that death destroys a level.
Aspects are essentially everything in game. For a Fighter, the concepts become martial proficiencies, armors, acrobatics, etc... For a Farmer, it becomes, nature based, forecasting (as in knowing a bit of the future), and a few other things, but no martial, or armors.
The game becomes a challenge, in that you never wield a weapon, just a torch. However, you may wield really any armor after a level or two, if you skill into it.
At level 3, the player will be allowed to choose Mage, Cleric, or Farm Hand Cont'd.
It is shown early in the game, the hero has piety, and relies on it for miracles... However, at level 3, the player has already encounter a Lich, and has obtained their staff. Meaning, they can choose to break it's necrotic node and class into mage.
It's a necromancy/wild magic field day for the poor soul, and where it goes from there is a bit cool. At level 7 the mage can choose to become a Tiefling's Monge (Monk) and realign to their faith, or choose to really become a Lich and perform a ritual to empower the node into their will.
The cleric becomes less and less worried in its pursuit to avenge themselves of the Lich.
Death:
When the player dies, their corpse remains in the room, with all their gear, (minus the torch, you will always have it or be able to have it). You can't get them back, until you loot the corpse.
Permadeath:
At level 0 the character is dead forever. The old corpse becomes apart of the dungeon, and the game continues with a fresh character.
Hence, a rogue like...
