So long as they provide source to relevant things upon request, yes. OSS can be sold, just the copyleft/license has to be respected.

Russia has no tradition of respecting copyright law (and of respecting laws in general, including international laws). We have a saying that "the cruelty of Russian laws is compensated by their failure to be enforced.

It would be nice if someone knowledgeable in the matter checked the legality of this.

Sure, though if you are familiar with the scripting/programming language at least you can try to vet it yourself first. However in regards to most that might use such resources, yeah, I've been arguing the same point, if you can't vet it best not use it.

Well, yes, it's the same with many things. With small scripts, I will usually open them before running and make a spot check just to make sure there are no network connections or "rm -rf no-perserve-root" or other such non-sense. But when you import large libraries, it is very difficult to vet. The code could be millions of lines, and, depending on what it is, you may not have the domain knowledge to access it is not malicious. In most cases, you will just have to assume that if something is popular, or the developer is well known, that you can trust them.

That's an interesting point. Does Godot have any settings to disable and/or log those types of operations? If not, should it?

Epic Games is giving away a mystery game tomorrow. What game do you think it will be?

One game that I thought could be possible is the Lego Skywalker Saga.

My reasoning:

All the previous may mystery games have been AAA: GTA V, and NBA 2K21

May is the month of Star Wars Day.

Epic Games and the Lego Group recently announced a long-term partnership to create a new game.

Skywalker Saga is popular enough to draw some attention to Epic Games when a lot of other companies are doing important announcements this month, but probably not popular enough to have as bad problems with clogging the site like when they did GTA V.

I'm quite likely completely wrong, but it is an interesting possibility.

Well, with Godot you can run console commands, or even add C++ code, so you could potentially do anything. Including deleting your hard drive, encrypting all the files, installing a backdoor, keylogger, whatever you want. But that goes the same for anything. If you run an executable program on your computer, assume they can read every file there (or delete them, or send them back to the hacker).

Of course, in case of something like blender with the blender foundation behind it you can rely on that to give it some validity, but since you mentioned downloading scripts off of github, that makes me assume we are talking about a sea of 'unknown' developers and just a small handful of perhaps more well known developers.
