Hello all.
Since last year I've given up trying to make working Oculus Go apps with either Unity or Godot as it seemed Oculus themselves had removed essential support for both engines making it impossible to start new projects. This left me burnt out and disheartened and forced to move onto other things.
But while we thought the Oculus Go was destined to become an expensive paper-weight, this week Oculus unlocked the Go's operating system for future "repurposing". This news has me optimistic once again but I'm not sure what it means going forward and if Godot will even be a part of that future. Without an engine such as Unity or Godot to make apps I'm at a loss as to how to even make new projects for the device.
Apparently the Go uses Android 7 as it's OS and I can comfortably make a mobile app with Android Studio and Java, but I don't know what effort it will take to develop a VR app for the Go without Godot. All I know is that the Go is now unlocked.
Any guidence or insight would be greatly appreciated - even if its bleak.
Thank you.
Steven.
