I think this thread is getting a bit all over the place. From my perspective, here's what's happened with the topic focus:
- This started as feedback about how adding a shortcut when installing/downloading Godot could be helpful.
- @Calinou mentioned the proposal for adding Windows installers, which would resolve this issue. However, as mentioned in the proposal, it isn't a simple process and will take time.
- Then it migrated to how the website should change to make it easier to see that it's portable.
- Note: The Godot forums are not responsible for the official Godot website, so we cannot directly change anything even if we wanted to.
- Then the discussion migrated to antivirus scanning and theoretical false-positives with Godot, which is a completely different topic from the shortcut issue.
- I think the idea was to show how it could make it easier for beginners who may be confused by the website and/or whether Godot is a virus. However, this is a bit off topic from the original point (adding shortcuts with the Godot application download).
- Note: Ideally, discussion on how the official Godot website can be improved should really be had on the Godot proposal repository, so the Godot team can see them and possibly make decisions/adjustments based on the feedback.
- Then it looped around again to shortcuts creation and possible adjustments to the website page
In my mind at least, this discussion seems to be jumping all over the place. I think the feedback that was intended to be given in this discussion, that Godot should perhaps in the future add a shortcut when installing, has been given.
For the matter of adding shortcuts on Godot's download/install, the proposal @Calinou linked will resolve this issue nicely and is where support for this idea should be discussed: https://github.com/godotengine/godot-proposals/issues/1432
I feel that currently this thread is getting rather off-topic and has the potential to become a heated argument that could lead to hurt feelings and/or anger, rather than meaningful discussion. That is not to say discussing the Godot website, shortcuts, etc, itself is an issue, but in this case I think all that needs to be said has been said.
For these reasons, I am closing this thread.
