Audio delay on FireTV

Hi all,

I'm experiencing an issue when exporting my game to FireTV. There is a noticeable delay in the sound. There is no delay when I run on my PC. I'm using the AudioStreamPlayer object, not the 2D or 3D variety. I even tried preloading the sound files, there is still the delay. Anyone have experience with this? or have an idea how I can go about troubleshooting this? I'm using Godot 3.3.2 and latest Android SDK.

Do you get this latency on other Android devices (such as a phone or tablet)?

Hi @Calinou. Interestingly, I tried on two brand new Insignia TVs F30 series with FireTV built in (Fire OS 7.2.5.0). Both had the latency issue.

I did also try it on an older FireTV (2nd generation, Fire OS 5.2.8.0), there was no latency issue but all my sprites were messed up.

Hi everyone. Looks like no one has experience with Fire OS. Any suggestions on how I can go about troubleshooting this?

What kind of audio files are you using? If it is for sound effects, then you want to be using wav, as that has the least CPU processing overhead. Also, found this post that indicates it may be a 32/64-bit architecture issue. Thanks for your response. I am using WAV. I even tried MP3 and Ogg anyway just to see, but they all have the same delay. I also saw that article on the 32/64 issue. I tried each of the four export options individually. The only one that works at all is Armeabi-v7a. The FireTV would not install any of the others.

When I connect to the FireTV using ADB, on GODOT it says Armeabi-v7a as the architecture when I hover my cursor over the android deploy icon. So, I think that's the right architecture.

I'm at a loss on what else to do.

What if you build for release? Maybe it is a debug build issue?

Thanks @cybereality. Good suggestion, I didn't think of that. Unfortunately, I tried it over the weekend and it still has the same delay. I also tried just making a very simple game where a sprite moves up and makes a sound when I press up arrow. It has the same delay.

I also tried downloading a commercial game just to make sure it's not something with the TV itself. But the commercial game did not have any sound delay that I can tell.

I would like to be able to solve this problem somehow. I think FireTV might be a great niche market for casual couch games.
