Diagonal stairs / ladders

Hi,

I'm trying to do game in spirit of 80's platformers which had many times diagonal ladders I've only seen up/down ladders in some games but not diagonals (I think some people call these as "castlevania stairs").

How should I approach this problem?

I would give the object a slanted hitbox and then give the player the ability to walk up slopes at a certain angle(this only works in the player is a kinematic body). I would then give the stairs one way collision. Depending on how big the steps on the stairs are, the player might notice the fact that the stairs are actually a slope.
