Good point. 1080p+ seems more common with newer phones, but I do see some stats (from the web) that imply that many users (probably internationally) are on lower resolutions.

Note, these may be low-end or non-smart phones as well, that maybe don't even run OpenGL/games very well but it is something to consider. Also, sometimes browsers report lower screen dimensions for compatibility, so that site might not tell the whole story.
One issue I had personally was that 720x720 looked pretty good on mobile, but way too enlarged on a monitor (I tested at 1080p and 1440p). At 1080p it was acceptable, but on the 1440p monitor it didn't look great. Probably not a huge concern on mobile, because the screens are smaller, but it does affect games if you want to push to mobile/desktop from the same project.
