Asset Library - Ratings?

So I noticed that there was no rating system in the asset library (ie. a user based score of 1-5 stars, or even a filter that lets you sort by most downloaded) so went to the GIT page to see if any existing requests existed to generate one and found this:

Before I run up a feature request, was this something that used to exist and was removed for some reason? I know there are resources like the 'awesome' lists, and just general exposure through Youtube, but personally think it would be really useful/intuitive if there were some more sort options in the editor as the plugin list is now quite extensive, and, if I'm being really annoying, an ability to add certain plugins to a favourite list so they can be easily found when loading up a new project.

Also if another request exists in GIT somewhere I missed, I'll shutup

I don’t remember why, but I think ratings were dropped for some reason or another. I don’t remember if it was technical, backend code, management, or something else entirely. I do remember it was initially planned and part of the system. I think it got little use initially, so maybe it was dropped because it wasn’t deemed worth the effort? I really don’t remember.

@Calinou - do you know why ratings were dropped in the asset library?

Interesting, its removed because its not implemented. Issue #5 also mentions GDPR and star rating being to vague to use.

So I guess it just that nobody figured out what voting should look like?
