Why is the editor resetting my projects?

Hi, guys recently I've been having a problem with Godot. So recently My Godot game has been resetting itself like all my scenes and nodes are gone and it looks like when you start up a brand new project. Although all my assets are still there such as sprites and music but I have to reimport my Nodes. This was not a one-time thing, This happens EVERYTIME I quit the editor and I constantly save my work but it still keeps doing this please help!!

Also, I'm using a Chromebook/Linux

Sounds like there might be a permissions problem perhaps? The editor might not have write permissions perhaps so it can't successfully save.

@Megalomaniak Now when I try to save it says "Couldn't save scene. Likely dependencies (instances or inheritance) couldn't be satisfied

Can you run Godot in admin mode, or the equivalent on Linux (sudo?) or Chrome OS? That should give Godot the permissions it needs to modify the file system.

You can try navigating to the Godot executable and then doing something like:

sudo ./Godot_Executable_Here

Something else you can try is to give the project folder shared access, as described in this article.

How did you run Godot? Using sudo or did you give the Godot project folder shared access?

wget https://downloads.tuxfamily.org/godotengine/3.1.2/Godot_v3.1.2-stable_x11.64.zip unzip Godot_v3.1.2-stable_x11.64.zip

I run godot like this copy ./Godot_v3.1.2-stable_x11.64 and then paste it in terminal

Maybe try running it like this: sudo ./Godot_v3.1.2-stable_x11.64 and see if that helps, as it should give it read/write permissions thanks to sudo.

Might it be that you don't have enough free disk space to save? Or are you loading/saving from/to a cloud storage?

The only thing I can think of is searching something like "Godot on Chromebook" and see if there is anything there that helps. This Reddit post, for example, has several comments that may be helpful to take a look at.

Update I fixed it using a reddit post apparently I had to go to editor settings Thanks for your help tho
