My little editor plugin creates a bunch of files, but their existence is not reflected in the file system panel unless I click to another application and back (mac-os with godot 3.2 -- custom build)
I don't know, but I do know that godot doesn't care for files unless they pertain to the editor in some way.
Also love the phrasing of "kicking the editor in the pants" :D!

Well with corona, one can no longer assume the editor is simply in pajamas or if it is even dressed
