DaVinci Resolve is a $300 video editor and they use a USB dongle for DRM (though they do allow an online key version now with some limitations). I don't visit pirate sites, so I don't know if it's been hacked (I guess probably), but it seems like a hardware USB dongle protection is about as good as it gets. And this is viable because the software costs $300, so they can afford to ship a dongle with it, it wouldn't work for a $60 game (plus it would be too inconvenient to have a separate dongle for every single game).
