The Lounge 2018: So... How Are You Doing? Edition.

Hello!

There doesn't seem to be any active "chatter" kicking off here. Everything's just "how do I this" and "Godot can that", so I thought, "well I want to meet some of you guys on a different level, and what better way than a post like this?".

So... How are you doing today? :)

Looking at the people around my area, and looking at how crowded it is, I am making plans to escape this place. If my plan to use lending club to increase my income works, then hopefully I can get my family to come with me. We then can move to lower cost of living, less people, and bigger yard. The people around here look like they are after blood.

How about we call this the lounge and perhaps make it a monthly affair?

edit: OK this is the lounge thread now and we will move to a monthly lounge threads once there is enough activity to justify it.

There is Godot discord if you wish to chat. This is not the purpose of a forum, more you chat less you work on your games ;)

Because Discord is very volatile, but it's not that bad, you can get help and infos too and bring them to your game.

I see a forum more as something to share or get help, less a chat tool. You can have discussions on the forum, or you can chat on discord that is more a chat tool as you asked with people connected 24/24.

And does it maintain some kind of public log so that others searching for the same issues can find the results through search engines & without logging into discord? ;)

As for chatting, as long as it's in a dedicated discussion thread like this I don't see why not. Not that I have anything against people using something like discord rather that there is nothing wrong with other choises either.

I mean, forums are more likely to die if there's no sense of community or comeraderie. Aside from this thread, there are NO off-topic or community-centric threads, categories, or anything on this forum right now. And as a result, it's unsettlingly quiet. If you look at the popular forums, they all have a side-section for off-topic content, forum games, picture-sharing threads, etc.

That is why dug up the Introduce yourself thread and made it an announcement/sticky thread, too. To get new members to actually make that crucial 1st post. :)

And, yeah if no one is around to chat/check up on the forums then there will be no one to answer anyone's questions either. Whats the point of having a forum then?

There is Discord, IRC , Matrix, Questions & Answers, and the one you seem to dislike the forum :D Make your choice.

To chat i will use Discord, i don't have tested using discord to discuss about code or how to resolve something, i don't know if it is efficient like the Forum or if people are available to help ? What i know is here in the forum, there is some great people that helps from time to time. Feel free to add chat or more topics to the forum, this won't change anything about how some of use use it.

Ok, I'm now convinced you are just misunderstanding. Nobody in the thread has stated they dislike the forum. :)

Sure no problem, that's entirely up to you. Participating in the lounge is not mandatory, hence the dedicated thread for it so that those not interested can just ignore it. ;)

I like the idea of the lounge.

So yeah....good long anniversary weekend with my wife! 2 days kid free. But glad to be back home. Would have liked to have done some Godot/Blender learning...but I'll catch up this week.

I am curious where the Godot base is spread. I'm from the USA. Oklahoma. Where is everyone else from?
