Yup, use a "Call Func" track. In the bottom toolbar of the Animation panel, click the + icon, then choose "Add Call Func Track". Then use the little green + button on the track to add a keyframe (warning: the collision is a bit off on that button, click on the right side of it :) ). Then edit the keyframe with the name of the function and any arguments. Click on the button with the pencil icon in the Animation panel to view/edit the keyframe details.
