Man sued for using the Google Play Store

A developer who sells android apps is being sued by a patent troll, simply because the troll claims to own a vague patent for the Google Play Store:[url=

[/url]The troll won't sue Google and instead has offered the developer a chance to settle the case for $50,000. The man is basically being bullied, and apparently patent troll bullying happens [i]all the time[/i]. Scaring and bullying developers into settling for tens of thousands of dollars, that is how patent trolls make money.So instead of settling, the developer has chosen to fight and has been tied up in litigation for nearly 5 years, costing him several millions.Anyone have thoughts on this?

My response is a bit late, but this exactly why I find developing for mobile so intimidating. I heard about this case a couple of years ago, and I can't believe it's still ongoing. Knowing my luck, I would be on the receiving end of lawsuit. I really hope this poor guy gets it all settled in his favor soon.
